About this Nominee

Founded in 1973, the Placer SPCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of companion animals and supporting the human-animal bond. As the largest and most comprehensive animal welfare provider in Placer County, Placer SPCA provides shelter, medical care, and adoption services for up to 4,000 displaced, homeless, and abandoned pets annually.

Placer SPCA operates several facilities including the best-in-animal-welfare practices Adoption & Education Center which opened in 2018. On January 31, 2026, Placer SPCA celebrated the opening of the new 8,800 square foot Veterinary and Foster Care Center, elevating our care for the medical needs of shelter and community animals. Placer SPCA proudly offers innovative programs, including environmental enrichment, behavior counseling, foster care, mobile adoptions, and pet retention services. We operate independently from the ASPCA and are funded solely by donations, grants, bequests and fees for service.
